WNBA roundup: Regular season rosters continue to take shape
With the regular season almost upon us, teams around the WNBA continue to make cuts as they finalize their rosters. Complete 12-player rosters are due to the league by Friday evening, with the regular season tipping off on Saturday.
Sun waive Pedersen
The Connecticut Sun waived former fist-round pick Kayla Pedersen on Monday. After coming over in a trade from Tulsa in 2012, she spent three seasons with the Sun, most recently in 2015. She has played in 52 career games and averaged 3.7 points per contest, but did not play in the WNBA in 2016.
The forward had not yet reported to training camp, as she was busy winning the Italian League Serie A Championship.
Wings waive 2
The Dallas Wings brought their roster down to 14 by waiving guard Tiffany Bias and forward Jordan Hooper. Both were role players for the Wings last season. Hooper appeared in 32 games and started one, while Dallas signed Bias mid-season and she only played in 10 games.
Indiana cuts roster to 12
By waiving Bashaara Graves and Victoria Macaulay on Monday, the Fever roster is officially at 12. Barring any last-minute moves, Indiana now appears to have the group it wants for the regular season.
In the Fever’s final preseason game against Dallas, Graves made an impact, scoring six points, grabbing six rebounds, and blocking a shot. Macaulay played 25 minutes in Indiana’s first preseason game. She scored nine points and blocked a pair of shots.
Sparks waive Go
South Korea native Ah-Ra Go made two preseason appearances for the Sparks in her fist WNBA Training Camp, but was ultimately waived on Monday. She played six total minutes and scored two points for the defending champs.
Lynx cut 3 more
The Lynx waived forwards Chantel Osahor and Breanna Richardson, along with guard Moriah Mack on Tuesday.
Osahor came to Minnesota in a trade with the Sky for Keisha Hampton in April. The former Washington Husky led the NCAA in rebounds and double-doubles last year and tied the Pac-12 record for most rebounds in a season.
Richardson and Mack both signed with the Lynx as free agents and had their best preseason game against Atlanta on May 5. Richardson scored eight points and pulled down three rebounds in the 113-67 win, while Mack had seven points and two assists.
