The San Antonio Stars have traded guard Jazmon Gwathmey to the Fever for a third-round 2018 WNBA draft pick, the teams announced on Tuesday.

Gwathmey is beginning her second season in the league and was a second-round selection out of James Madison in 2016. As a rookie for the Stars, she played in 22 games, starting 10, and averaged 3.3 points per game. Her best performance came in her first start against Washington, when she scored 16 points.

In the offseason, she played in Australia and averaged 8.2 points and 4.5 rebounds in her first season.

In addition to trading Gwathmey, the Stars also waived center Briana Day and guard Roneeka Hodges to bring their roster down to 14. Day played in both preseason contests for San Antonio, averaging 8.5 points and three rebounds. Hodges scored six in the Stars’ April 29 win over Dallas but played a more limited role in their second preseason game against the Sparks.

The Stars open the season Saturday at New York, while the Fever play their first game Sunday in Seattle.
