Valparaiso transfer Amber Lindfors has committed to Saint Louis, the Billikens announced on Friday.

She will sit out for the 2017-18 season, then have two years of eligibility left for Saint Louis.

Lindfors played two seasons for the Crusaders and started 57 of 58 career games. She made her mark as a complete player for Valpo, averaging 5.8 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 2.4 blocks per game. Lindfors led the Horizon League in blocks in each of her two seasons.

Saint Louis head coach Lisa Stone expressed her excitement for Lindfor’s commitment in the team’s release:

"“She will give us a strong presence in the low post as a big-time shot blocker and capable rebounder. As a transfer, she’ll have a year to learn our system and then be ready to make a significant contribution for two seasons. We’re happy Amber is a member of the Billiken family.”"

While Lindfors spends the next year working on her game, the Billikens will have a front court in transition. The key will lie in adjusting to life without Atlantic 10 first-team center Sadie Stipanovich. The senior led the team in rebounding last year and was second in scoring, providing one of the toughest interior presences in the league. Madison Gitz will be looked at to help fill that void next season, before Lindfors can step in and provide some help.

Saint Louis figures to be a guard-heavy team in 2017-18, led by reigning conference player of the year Jackie Kemph. The Billikens are coming off a 25-9 season that ended in a second-round WNIT loss to Indiana.
