LINDSAY WHALEN

Throughout high school and college, Lindsay Whalen’s offensive production was limited to lay-ups and three-pointers. Last season, she placed an emphasis on increasing her mid-range jumpers, and the results were splendid. Whalen’s 51.3 percent clip from the floor in 2016 was a career high, and she has further expansion plans in 2017.

“The more years you get in the league, the more you have to expand your game,” she said. “I’ve been going to the basket my whole career, so everybody knows that’s where I’m going to try to go. Now, I’ve added that mid-range and I’ll continue to work on the threes as well.”

Of course, Whalen is known for her ball distribution, ranking third in the WNBA in career assists. Last year, Maya Moore overtook Whalen for the team lead in that category, but the 34-year-old is OK with that.

“She just adds something to her game every year. It’s what the all-time greats do,” she said.
