Often times, the thing you need most is right under your nose. Though many thought that the Mystics might draft a big with the sixth overall pick, the D.C. based team scooped up Walker-Kimbrough from nearby University of Maryland. An All-Big Ten First Team member her last three seasons in College Park, Walker-Kimbrough finished her career in the top 5 all-time in school history in both scoring and three-point shooting. On a team that has clearly gone all in on a “space and pace” offensive mentality, the rookie should get plenty of open looks as defenses focus in on her teammates Delle Donne, Kristi Toliver, Tayler Hill and others. Couple that with the likelihood of her team finishing near the top of the league standings, Walker-Kimbrough could become the second lowest pick all-time to win the ROY.
