The Money Line: Odds, Prediction for WNBA Most Valuable Player
Tina Charles (+450)
Sometimes time proves to be a cruel thing; that was certainly true for Charles last season. The New York native showed out for the Liberty, scoring a career high 21.5 points per game, raising her free throw percentage nearly 10 percentage points and showing off a three point shot for the first time in her career. The load she took on offense was actually historic: her 622 FGA were the second most attempts in league history (Diana Taurasi took 260 in 2006). All of that was only good enough for second place in the MVP voting, as Ogwumike picked the same moment to have a breakout season.
The Liberty have a good mix of experience and youth on the roster, with players like Sugar Rodgers, Epiphanny Prince, Brittany Boyd, Shavonte Zellous and Bria Hartley littering the perimeter. Plus, Kiah Stokes, Amanda Zahui B and the newly acquired Kia Vaughn provide a deep and strong post unit that will only benefit Charles. As the team continues to push their win total higher, Charles will continue to be one of the most unstoppable forces in the league.
