The Money Line: Odds, Prediction for WNBA Most Valuable Player
Elena Delle Donne (+400)
Considering all she has accomplished and how much of a household name she has, it’s hard to believe that Delle Donne has only been in the league for four years. After winning the MVP in 2015 by putting up 23.4 points, 8.4 rebounds and two blocks per game, Delle Donne put together another solid season in 2016, averaging 21.5 points, seven rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game, good enough to earn fourth place in the MVP voting. Her change of scenery has been well documented as Washington Mystics GM Mike Thibault pulled off one of the biggest trades in WNBA history for the second time in his career (remember, while with the Connecticut Sun, he traded Lindsay Whalen and second pick in the 2010 draft for Renee Montgomery and the first pick, which ended up being Tina Charles).
With a roster that includes All-Stars Kristi Toliver and Emma Meesseman, along with Tayler Hill, the Mystics feature the greatest collection of shooters in the league. All that should leave Delle Donne in a lot of one-on-one situations which obviously plays to her favor. Double team her and you risk an open three to a knock down shooter. Look for Delle Donne’s number across the board to be stellar.
