Maryland coach Brenda Frese knows a little something about graduating players to the WNBA. So it was no surprise to see her on hand at the 2017 WNBA Draft, helping both Brionna Jones and Shatori Walker-Kimbrough celebrate their first-round selections by the Connecticut Sun and Washington Mystics, respectively.

Frese joined me for a wide-ranging discussion on how Jones and Walker-Kimbrough fit on their new rosters, what Maryland’s 2017-18 prospects look like and much more. We discussed bigger-picture questions as well, like the work done by coaches in the offseason, and precisely why Frese, for instance, isn’t considered every time a men’s job comes up.
