With the 12th pick in the first round of the WNBA Draft, the Minnesota Lynx selected Alexis Jones, point guard out of Baylor.

Jones represents a potential succession plan for the great Lindsay Whalen, current starting point guard and Olympian for the Lynx. Whalen played fewer minutes last season—just 24.6 per game, as coach Cheryl Reeve tried to keep her fresher for the playoffs.

But in Jones, the Lynx added a dynamic penetrator who shot better than 41 percent from three in each of her final two seasons, vital for a Lynx team with just one player above 34 percent from deep, Maya Moore.
