With the eleventh pick in the 2017 WNBA Draft, the Los Angeles Sparks selected Sydney Wiese, the 6’1 guard out of Oregon State.

Wiese is a prototype Sparks player. Playing defense for Oregon State coach Scott Rueck is an excellent training ground for doing the same for Brian Agler, head coach of the Sparks. And Wiese shot the three with better than 42 percent accuracy in 2016-17, allowing the Sparks to start replacing the shooting of Kristi Toliver, who departed via free agency this offseason for the Washington Mystics.

Wiese is going to be an excellent fit for the Sparks’ culture as well, bringing a winning experience with the Beavers, including a Final Four appearance, to the defending champs.
