The 2017 WNBA Draft is fast approaching, and no one will shape the decisions made on April 13 more than San Antonio Stars general manager Ruth Riley, who will make picks one and five.

Riley spoke at length on my Locked On Women’s Basketball podcast about such topics as Kayla Alexander’s development, the health of Kayla McBride, and what to expect in Year Two of the Moriah Jefferson Experience.

I also asked Riley whether her top pick’s name would rhyme with “Schmelsey Blum”. Did this and other subterfuge work in convincing Riley to reveal her intentions early? Take a listen and find out!
