The New York Liberty defeated the Minnesota Lynx in the 2024 WNBA Finals. Minnesota played well but lost in overtime in Game 5. Now the Lynx's focus will turn to the offseason and preparing for the 2025 campaign.
Will the Lynx be able to bring back a similar roster? Most of the attention will center around potential acquisitions, but Minnesota may lose two players as well.
Here are two Lynx players who will not be back in 2025.
2. Natisha Hiedeman
Hiedeman is set to be an unrestricted free agent. She played in all 40 games during the season, but she recorded only 15.2 minutes per outing. Hiedeman averaged 4.9 points, 2.4 assists and 1.6 rebounds per game.
She had previously played for the Connecticut Sun, where she did start games in her final two seasons with the team. Her overall statistics were respectable, and it is clear that Hiedeman can play an important role for a good team.
With the Lynx, her minutes were limited for the most part. Hideman surely enjoyed the fact that Minnesota made a championship run, but she also may want to sign with a team where she will receive more minutes.
1. Myisha Hines-Allen
Hines-Allen spent time with both the Washington Mystics and Lynx in 2024. She averaged 7.8 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.6 assists per outing across 40 total games. Hines-Allen will be an unrestricted free agent, however.
She will likely draw a respectable amount of interest in free agency. Teams will be ready to sign her which will make bringing Hines-Allen back difficult for the Lynx. Minnesota's championship run will intrigue Hines-Allen which may lead to a potential reunion, but it remains to be seen if the Lynx will match other teams' offers.
The 28-year-old features an intriguing ceiling. She can help a contending team without question. At 6'1", Hines-Allen is capable of playing multiple positions if necessary. Her versatility is another big reason why she will be a popular free agent.
Lynx's offseason outlook
The Lynx will probably attempt to bring back a similar roster. Many of their stars are not free agents which is crucial. They will need to boost their depth if Hiedeman and Hines-Allen end up leaving in WNBA free agency. The Lynx certainly understand how important depth is throughout a WNBA season.
The Minnesota Lynx will be an especially interesting team to follow throughout the WNBA season.
