No. 26: New York Liberty, Erica Ogwumike (Rice)

JACKIE POWELL: With the 26th pick in the 2020 WNBA draft, the New York Liberty have selected Erica Ogwumike, but have now traded that pick to the Minnesota Lynx for the contract of Stephanie Talbot. Talbot is familiar with head coach Walt Hopkins and assistant coach Shelley Patterson, but she also knows Rebecca Allen well as the two have played together on the Opals, the Australian national team.  The Liberty also traded Shatori Walker-Kimbrough, who they acquired in trading Tina Charles to Washington, to the Phoenix Mercury for their 10th overall pick Jocelyn Willoughby. The small forward out of Virginia is versatile. She can get drive through the lane, defend multiple positions and has a three point ability.  While the ESPN broadcast stated how high Walt Hopkins is on Willoughby, she has struggled with turning the ball over while at Virginia.
