Okay, Jim Pitman, here’s what we know about your offseason: you obviously have to go pay DeWanna Bonner. You’ve got Diana Taurasi, Briann January (terrific starting backcourt) and Brittney Griner under contract for 2020. And several of the kids you relied on in 2019 are signed and ready to help, with Sophie Cunningham a useful rotation piece, Alanna Smith, if she stays healthy, a prototype stretch four in this league, and Brianna Turner a vital defensive stopper/backup center for when Griner needs a breather or gets into foul trouble from the ever-evolving post calls the WNBA refs make. That leaves plenty of room to figure out how to give Sandy Brondello the depth necessary to get deeper into the 2020 playoffs, both with a pair of full protection contract slots and financial means. But really, unless the Big Three produce, it won’t matter. Betting against Diana Taurasi, though, is a fool’s errand.
