UNCASVILLE – The Washington Mystics took a 2-1 lead in the WNBA Finals series after a 94-81 win in front of a sold-out crowd in Connecticut.

The Sun will host Game 4 on Tuesday at 8 p.m.

The Mystics are a win away from their first WNBA championship. Connecticut has the opportunity to push the series to a Game 5 in front of its home crowd in two days.

For Washington, Emma Meesseman provided 21 points and 6 rebounds, Kristi Toliver contributed Washington with 20 points and 10 assists, and Natasha Cloud added 19 points, 4 assists and 2 rebounds.

Delle Donne, who is battling injury and was listed as questionable, finished the game with 13 points and 6 rebounds on 5-for-6 shooting. She went in and out of the game occasionally, which was a part of the Mystics strategy.

“I just want to be a leader for this team,” Elena Delle Donne said in a post-game interview with Holly Rowe. “I did nothing, they carried me. I love them to death, we have a little more work to do.”

For Connecticut, Bria Holmes provided a spark off the bench and added 15 points, 3 steals and 2 assists. Jasmine Thomas and Shekinna Stricklen both scored 16 points and Alyssa Thomas had 12.

Cloud held Courtney Williams to 6 points and Jonquel Jones added 9.
