3. Indiana Fever select Beatrice Mompremier, 6’4 F/C, Miami

Though she likely would have been selected in the first round in the 2019 draft, Beatrice Mompremier returned to school because she wanted to improve as a player. That’s going to appeal to the decision-maker in town, Tamika Catchings, who prizes work ethic above all else. Mompremier is a dominant force on the boards, top-100 in the country in both offensive and defensive rebounding rate. That will allow Indiana to continue to build on their improvement in this area, which began with Teaira McCowan, but still landed them around the middle of the pack on the boards. She has a dazzling array of post moves, plus quickness and athleticism, and can shoot it from midrange, though beyond the arc is still a work in progress. But Mompremier is a 4/5 option who doesn’t sacrifice rebounding for offensive efficiency, while giving space to McCowan to operate in Indiana’s frontcourt of the future.
