Mark Campbell

Campbell was one of the first names that came up this week when the Gottlieb news broke.  Campbell, who just completed his fifth season with the Oregon Ducks, and fourth as the associate head coach, has separated himself as one of the nation’s top assistants. Campbell came to Eugene along with Kelly Graves, after spending four years as an assistant at Oregon State. Campbell has spent all of his division one coaching career in women’s basketball in the Pac-12. Prior to Oregon State, Campbell coached on the men’s side. Alongside Graves, Campbell has helped the Ducks become one of the premier program in women’s college basketball. He helped lead the recruiting efforts in landing all-world guard, Sabrina Ionescu, and has proven that his international recruiting ties are also strong.  The Ducks have already landed five top-50 recruits for the class of 2020 as well. There’s no doubt that Campbell is ready and experienced enough to be the next head coach for Cal. The question might be whether or not this is the right time for him.  With Oregon returning what many believe will be the country’s best team, would he want to stay with the Ducks? Or would he leave?
