4. Chicago Sky: Jackie Young, 6′ G, Notre Dame

The thing about the Chicago Sky is that James Wade has a lottery pick, but is counting on most of the improvement to come next season from internal development. He has Gabby Williams and Diamond DeShields at the wings, Stef Dolson at center, #VanderQuigs at the guard spots. Better defending all around, taking care of the basketball, executing late — these are the pathways back to the playoffs. Well, Jackie Young does all of this. She’s a hyper-efficient offensive player, shooting 53.2 percent from two and 45.2 percent from three. Her assist percentage of 23.4 reflects an ability to play the point, too, which can get Vandersloot some time off the ball. She can even join the celebrated backcourt duo in a smaller lineup, or give the Sky a larger look defensively by playing instead of either of them in the backcourt as well. She can run two-person sets with Cheyenne Parker in what shapes up as a quality second unit. She has WNBA athleticism and strength on day one. This is a gift for the Sky.
