Penn State- Big Ten

Departed coach/record:  Coquese Washington, 12 seasons (209-169 overall, 98-106 in the Big Ten)

Reason for departure:  After winning the Big Ten regular-season title for three straight seasons from 2011-2014, Washington record just one winning season since then. The team also has finished no higher than sixth in the Big Ten since 2014, all resulting in Washington’s dismissal.

New coach/previous position: Carolyn Kieger, Marquette head coach- Kieger made Marquette nationally known in pretty short order, getting them to the NCAA tournament in her third season and doing it again the next two. Just 35-years-old, Kieger will bring a new energy to Penn State, something she’ll need to get the program rolling again. The Big 10 is ripe for climbing the standings though, so she’ll have a chance to make a quick impact yet again.
