3. Indiana Fever: Kalani Brown, 6’7 C, Baylor

This remains the most logical combination of slot, talent, team need and fit in the entire draft. Indiana finished last in the WNBA in rebounding percentage, last in block percentage, and dearly needs a big to address these issues. Moreover, while Teaira McCowan is a better fit for those specific areas of need, they also landed in last place in offensive rating, suggesting that whoever they find to play the five needs to provide offensive versatility. All of this points to Brown, a smart, capable basketball player who has already added the trail three to her repertoire, and has the bloodlines and will to maximize what she can be in Pokey Chatman’s attack. In a perfect world, Kim Mulkey would have been making sure her ancillary skills were WNBA-ready the way Dawn Staley made A’ja Wilson’s a focus at South Carolina, but you can be sure Chatman has plenty to work with and knows how to shape Brown.
