In many ways, the various draft pref lists of WNBA teams are already settled.

And yet, there can and will be significant movement between now and the time WNBA president… well, somebody walks to the podium in New York on April 10 and announces the first pick.

Consider the following: many of these pref lists are written in pencil because preferences are ever-so-slight, meaning that a strong finish in a conference tournament, even a dominant showing in an elite NCAA matchup, can change perceptions of a particular player. The reverse, incidentally, is also true.

Then there’s the continuing reality of WNBA free agency, with a large number of players remaining on the board, unsigned.

And we’d be remiss not to point out the continuing drama around Liz Cambage, with Las Vegas currently offering the best package to Dallas, while Cambage maintains a desire to only go to Los Angeles. Who blinks first will mean significant ramifications for teams picking first, fifth and seventh in this draft, changing their roster needs and desires accordingly.

Lastly, the significant number of talented underclassmen who can declare early, due to their eligibility to do so, cannot be ignored.

All of which means that there are many pieces still to rearrange in this, the month of madness. What’s the current snapshot, though?
