Congratulations to South Carolina on moving up to a 4 seed. We had the Gamecocks a little lower than that, but the committee saw it differently and their loss at UConn (which could happen to anybody) does not drop them far. This also brings us to our first hosting problem: as of now, it does not appear that South Carolina will be able to host the first weekend. The Gamecocks’ home arena will be a men’s first weekend site this year and it’s unknown whether the women’s team will submit or receive a waiver to host in another arena. For now, we’re sending them to Florida State.

Don’t worry, Notre Dame fans, you’ll end up in Chicago as long as Baylor stays ahead of Louisville in the true seeding (or if you move ahead of the Cardinals at some point). The committee wrongly assumed this week that Baylor was closer to Greensboro than Chicago, which set off a chain reaction that booted the Irish from the Chicago region. Assuming that’s fixed, Louisville will play in Greensboro, clearing the way for Notre Dame to stay close to home.
