In New York, no single player may mean more to any franchise than Tina Charles does to the Liberty. And there’s been no shortage of rumors out of the past few months, between the losing season and the ownership uncertainty, over whether the hometown Charles might head elsewhere. But this decision guarantees the Liberty a chance to receive value in a trade should Charles indicate she wants out, while the expected acquisition of the Liberty by Nets minority owner Joseph Tsai could be convincing enough to keep Charles in New York and happy, a key indication of credibility for the franchise going forward. This means, however, Epiphanny Prince is an unrestricted free agent, an attractive option for a number of teams in need of efficient scoring.
