8. Amber Melgoza – Washington

The Huskies were the worst team in the Pac-12 last season. Not only that, but their 7-23 finish ended up being the worst in school history.

However, there was one bright spot to last season’s nightmare. That was guard Amber Melgoza. She exploded on the scene and earned herself a spot as an All-Pac-12 selection.

As a sophomore, she put up 19.0 points per game and 4.3 rebounds. She was second in the conference in scoring. This season, she’s helped lead Washington to a 2-0 start. In their opening night win over Cal State Fullerton, Melgoza put up 18 points and five rebounds. She followed that up with her first career double-double with 20 points and ten rebounds as well as eight assists in a win over Northern Arizona.

The Huskies might not make much noise this season in terms of wins, but they should be a bit exciting to watch with Melgoza leading the way.
