Head coach: Kevin McGuff-4th season
Ohio State was the model team for the B1G conference and under McGuff, he has continued to make the Buckeyes the team to beat along with Maryland—even managing to sweep Maryland the season the Terrapins went undefeated everywhere else in the conference. McGuff also led the Buckeyes to two back-to-back sweet 16’s and four out of his five seasons. His prized pupil was guard Kelsey Mitchell, now of the Indiana Fever, who was a record-breaking machine and gave a plethora of teams a lot of problems. Knowing McGuff, he will regroup and have his team competing against everyone like he usually does.
Outlook:
This is a very interesting team and by interesting, I mean very unusual. The Buckeyes have six graduate transfer students this season and three incoming freshman. This team is built from scratch. Sierra Calhoun transferred to Rutgers and both Steph Mavunga and Kelsey Mitchell left due to the draft.
Best scenario: This team will be dangerous because of the strong veteran power of all of the transfers that have come in. With the transfers coming and helping the freshman, this will also help them on and off the court as well.
Worst case scenario: The team does not have enough chemistry and won’t be able to play as well together because of the new team that’s been assembled.
