Preseason MVP: Brittney Griner, Mercury

Griner is coming off the best season of her career, and she feels that she can get even better. Despite knee and ankle injuries that kept her out for eight games last year, she averaged 21.9 points (a league high), 7.6 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks per game in 2017, with a career-best true shooting percentage of 64.2. The Mercury are one of a handful of teams that could win the title, and Griner seems like a logical pick for MVP leading the way. Griner has a strong supporting cast around her, but she is the single biggest difference maker in the WNBA.
