The Los Angeles Sparks and Connecticut Sun game concluded in dramatic fashion, with a 68-65 Connecticut win. In a game of eight lead changes and seven tied scores, the Sun’s Rachel Banham launched a buzzer-beater three-pointer, securing the victory.

Veteran Jasmine Thomas showed just why she was a 2017 All-Star last night. Her 12 points weren’t nearly as impressive as her quick hands and speed that was a major contributor in the win. Thomas, paired with Courtney Williams, provided a force on defense. They each had tallies in the steals column.  Betnijah Laney and Chiney Ogwumike both added ten points to the final score.

Sparks guard Cappie Pondexter played her part in yellow last night. She and Karlie Samuelson each scored 14 points. Samuelson’s efficiency is to be noted. She shot 85.7% from the field and 66.7% from range.

Rookie Shakayla Thomas stole the show, though. She scored 17 points with eight rebounds to match, producing all throughout the significant minutes she played. However, as impressive as she was, Los Angeles must find a way to gel together better.
