Napheesa Collier, 6’1 F, Connecticut
Something Geno Auriemma didn’t do this year: complain about Napheesa Collier’s defense. She’s a classic four, 6’1 but plays taller, capable of burying the three (though that percentage dropped from 43.1 percent as a sophomore to 34.4 percent as a junior), effective rebounder, capable facilitator for her position (18.0 assist percentage), but look at her defensive points per possession, per Synergy: 0.535. Among players with at least 200 defensive possessions recorded, that ranked fourth in Division I in 2017-18. All the questions about where she fits on a WNBA team have disappeared.
