2018 WNBA Draft Big Board v. 6.0: Azura Stevens shakes up the board
10. New York Liberty: Maria Vadeeva, 6’3 C Russia
While New York already has a significant presence up front (though technically, Tina Charles remains unsigned), a polished young talent with international experience like Vadeeva is too valuable for Katie Smith to pass up here. She’s an excellent finisher around the rim, giving Charles more of an opportunity to embrace her game further out on the perimeter, and it is easy to envision the Liberty even utilizing the two of them with Kiah Stokes (or, Amanda Zahui B) in the kind of unenviable frontcourt matchup skilled enough to score and large enough to crash the boards for second opportunities.
