The Wedding Party

Wedding are a big life events shared with family and close friends – and for life-long athletes like Amanda and Elena – teammates. Both will have former high school and college friends join them to celebrate next month. Elena will also have her sister Lizzie and her best friend as her co-Maids of Honor.

The bridesmaids will walk down the aisle representing the wedding colors of blush and gray. Amanda discussed the selection of the colors with us, “I just looked at a ton of pictures and I found a picture with a combination of rose – rose or blush – and gray. They were in a picture mixed together … I loved how the two colors looked together.” The Knot gave a sneak peek of the bridesmaids’ dresses on the couple’s Dream Wedding website

The music

Two very important parts of the wedding for both Amanda and Elena are the food and the music. The women put a good deal of time and thought into both, especially the food (which will be to the guests’ delight, to be sure).

If you follow Elena on social media, you know she’s been advocating for Pink to make an appearance at the wedding.

While the petition is pending, we do know the couple will have a live band for the wedding reception.

The menu

Amanda gave a chuckle when attempting to put into words all the food ordered for the wedding. “There’s a ton of food … a good variety. It’s probably some of the best food I’ve ever tasted.”

The menu represents the couple’s favorites, “Burgers will be part of the late-night menu, bone-in rib-eye will be part of the regular menu. We also love doughnuts, so you’ll see some doughnuts in our desserts,” said Delle Donne.

An Italian-style (read as huge) dinner will take place the eve of the ceremony. The tradition honors Delle Donne’s (“very” as Amanda put it) Italian roots. “The rehearsal dinner is a big, sit-down, Italian family style meal. So, that definitely is huge and my dad will probably love that ‘cause his entire life has been that,” laughed Elena.

“I don’t know how much I’ll be eating the night before the wedding, I didn’t think about that.,” she added.

In addition to the necessary trimmings of a wedding, Elena and Amanda have found unique ways to incorporate their passions for philanthropy and sustainability.
