Howard: I want to go back to @jadabutts’s point, because it is really interesting to me: the Lynx are older. But they aren’t aging like other teams. There’s a Lynx portrait in an attic somewhere that finished this season 12-22. Do we see their window as smaller than that of the Sparks?
Ben: If a few members of the Lynx were to retire soon, I suppose the window is smaller. But the way the Lynx first 5 has been playing, they appear capable of doing this for a few more years. Fowles and Moore are at their apex. Should things even get to that point, I’d bet the Lynx would find a way to reload. Who wouldn’t want to play for Reeve and with Moore/Fowles?
Erica: No, I don’t see the widow being smaller because of age, per se. The window for LA improves as their collective playoffs experience improves. There is less room to crack a Lynx roster (ask Sugar Rodgers) because of the experience they have. With that said, I don’t think the Lynx are going to see very many retirements down the road. So, the age issue is actually one of development, not “seasoned” players.
Additionally, as other teams blend in more experience, I think we’ll see the gap btw these two teams and the rest of the league narrow. We saw it with Washington
