Quote of the night

The Mystics did a great job taking Maya Moore’s scoring out of the game. Through three quarters, the former MVP shot just 4-for-10 from the field. It’s not as if she was completely taken out of the game as she had five assists but the Lynx were missing her scoring punch as they tried to reclaim the lead. That all changed in the fourth when she had 11 points on 3-for-6 shooting, including a dagger 3-pointer. She even managed five free throw attempts in the frame.

This was not lost on her head coach, who affectionately explained Moore’s performance.

“That’s Maya Moore. You can’t ride the Maya Moore roller coaster. She’s gonna take you up. She’s gonna take you down. She’ll take you around. She’ll take you backward. You can’t ride the rollercoaster and gotta try to stay in the middle and try to keep her in the middle. I thought she was really focused down the stretch and helped our team.”
