NaLyssa Smith commits to Baylor: Who she is and why it matters

With Smith’s commitment, there are just six more players ranked in ESPN HoopGurlz top 20 that are left to make their commitments. Here is a quick look at who they are, where they are from and the schools they are considering.

*Note: per NCAA rules, each prospective student-athlete is allowed to take unlimited unofficial visits but only five official visits.

Christyn Williams- 5’9 SG- Little Rock, Arkansas- Ranked #1 overall by ESPN 

Williams has narrowed her list to five schools and has official visits set for each one. UCLA (visited this past weekend), Tennessee (visiting 9/22), Notre Dame (visiting 9/29), Texas (visiting 10/6) and UConn (visiting 10/13).

Olivia Nelson-Ododa- 6’4 PF/C- Winder, GA- Ranked #3 overall by ESPN

Nelson-Ododa announced her final six in September; here they are in alphabetical order. Duke, Florida State, Georgia, South Carolina, Stanford, UConn.

Aquira DeCosta- 6’2 PF- Stockton, California- Ranked #5 overall by ESPN

DeCosta has also narrowed her list to five schools and has official visit dates set. USC (visiting 9/8), Louisville (visiting 9/15), South Carolina (visiting 9/22), Tennessee (visiting 9/29) and Baylor (visiting 10/6).

Zarielle Green- 6’0 SG- Arlington, Texas- Ranked #13 overall by ESPN

Green narrowed her list to five schools. UCLA (which she visited this past weekend), Georgia, Kansas, Tennessee and Texas A&M.

Queen Egbo- 6’2 PF- Houston, Texas- Ranked #14 overall by ESPN

Egbo narrowed her list to four schools. Baylor, Florida State, Mississippi State and Texas.

Honesty Scott-Grayson- 5’8 SG- Woodbridge, VA- Ranked #16 overall by ESPN

Scott-Grayson has narrowed her list to seven schools. Baylor, Louisville, Ole Miss, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Texas and West Virginia.
