Highlights galore when Seattle’s offense soars
Turbulence about the future of Seattle Storm head coach Jenny Boucek got a reprieve for at least one night, thanks to a torrid offense. Seattle piled on the points in a 109-93 win over the Dallas Wings, with all five starters reaching double-digits.
Jewell Loyd led the Storm with 27 points, while Breanna Stewart became the fastest player in WNBA history to reach 1,000 points and 500 rebounds in her career. Against the Wings, Stewart had 20 points and 9 rebounds.
The milestones weren’t limited to individuals; the Storm set a new franchise record for highest field goal percentage in a game, finishing with a clip of 61.5 percent. They also tied a franchise record with 29 assists.
The win was vital for Seattle’s post-season hopes. As of Friday night, Atlanta and Seattle are tied for the eighth and final playoff seed at 10-12. Atlanta holds the tiebreaker, but a lot can happen between now and Labor Day weekend, when the regular season ends.
