12. Washington Mystics

Content- 3. While they do post a lot, it’s not all correlated to games. You can’t keep up with the game at all via their Twitter feed.
Creativity – 2. Nothing special.
Viewership – 2. They fall in the middle of the pack.
TOTAL: 7/15

11. Dallas Wings

Content – 3. They post about 2-3 posts per game and use their Twitter feed to keep fans up to date during games. However, their posts aren’t specific to time, score, situation and are not really a viable option to view the game. They also don’t utilize their Instagram stories or at least hadn’t when I was investigating.
Creativity – 1. There isn’t much outside of basketball here.
Viewership – 3. Dallas falls at the bottom in terms of viewership. But I am also willing to give them the benefit of the doubt because they did move the franchise and most likely lost some following during the move. However, Dallas does interact with fans via comments and tweets.
TOTAL: 7/15

10.Los Angeles Sparks

Content- 3. They use their Instagram stories and do a great job of showing the various celebrities that come out to support. It’s also easy to follow their timeline on Twitter for game updates.
Creativity – 2. Not much meme usage or anything outside of the norm here.
Viewership – 5. There’s only a couple thousand follower difference between the Sparks and the Lynx. The Sparks have a strong online presence.
TOTAL: 10/15

9. Seattle Storm

Content – 5. They post about 4-5 posts per game after each game on their Instagram. These posts include graphics including stats but most importantly, videos. They are active on their Instagram story and tag their players so that the fans can follow them individually if they want as well. On Twitter, they have play by play updates during the game so fans can follow via twitter if they aren’t watching. They do a great job of staying up to date and keeping the fan informed.
Creativity – 2. While they do post lots of great footage, compared to some other teams in the league, their content is straight forward and bland.
Viewership – 3. They fall in the middle of the pack with viewership on both social media platforms. And while you can be entertained by the occasional phoenix mercury twitter fight, there isn’t that much fan interaction from my brief investigation.
