Connecticut Sun (+5, -106)
Chicago Sky (-5, 106)
Total: 158.5

The trendy dividends pick coming into the season, Connecticut is still looking to notch their first win after falling to 0-4 on Friday with a loss to the Minnesota Lynx. Though its not the start they wanted, the Sun have been in every game, losing two games by two points and another by just seven. Second in the league in three-point percentage and third in offensive pace, there are plenty of reasons to be optimistic. Jonquel Jones is averaging a double-double, and Jasmine Thomas is shooting over 50% from three.

The big question is who can step up and be the go-to scorer when the team needs someone to take over. Morgan Tuck is leading the team with 13 points per game, followed by Jones (12.5), Thomas, (12) and Courtney Williams (10.3), but they all have disappeared at times. The team is young and budding, and certainly the law of averages will work out and some of those close games will go their way eventually, but someone needs to emerge as the reliable scorer.

The Sky sit at 1-3 but have only seen two different opponents so far (the Washington Mystics and the Atlanta Dream). Two straight losses to the Mystics revealed two things: they need Allie Quigley and Courtney Vandersloot in order to be successful, and they need to figure out their lineups.

Throwing out three bigs at a time has paid dividends on the boards… kind of. While second in the in rebounds per game (37.6), they are also giving up the most rebounds per game (39.2). In the latest 88-79 loss to Washington, the team shot a very impressive 7-of-12 from deep, but were out rebounded 39-32 and coughed up the ball 15 times. This team is still trying to gel and I’m really not sure what their identity is.

I think the Sun finally have things go their way today, and even if they don’t win, they will keep it within 5, so give me the Sun and the over.
