MO’ NIQUE MO’ PROBLEMS

If we’re talking hottest starts to the WNBA season, names like Jewell Loyd and Sylvia Fowles jump in the discussion. But Monique Currie, at the ripe age of 34, is the sixth-leading scorer in the league right now. She’s averaging 20.7 points and five rebounds a night on 55.6/66.7/90 shooting, carrying the starless Stars missing their three best players.

Just don’t tell that to Currie, who’s been an absolute joy to watch… and listen to. After a tiny skirmish with (get well soon) Brittany Boyd, Currie gave us possibly the quote of the season two hours in. From The Summitt’s report: “Currie, however, couldn’t remember exactly what was said, because as she put it, Boyd’s ‘breath was stinking.’” Monique Currie for All-Star. Monique Currie for President.
