CHANTEL OSAHOR

Rookie forward Chantel Osahor was perplexed about not getting a call from the Chicago Sky, the team that drafted her in the second round this year. The following day, the rebounding extraordinaire found out that Chicago traded her to Minnesota, a team she felt was a better fit for her abilities.

“It was a positive for me right off the bat,” Osahor said. “I’m going to a team that’s loaded with amazing players, a championship culture.”

As a senior at Washington, Osahor led the NCAA in rebounds and double-doubles. She also carries strong passing skills and a three-point stroke that is unorthodox, but effective.

Osahor absorbs something from every player she watches, drawing inspiration from the likes of Tamika Catchings, Frank Kaminsky, and Steve Nash. Osahor’s astute observation is no different in training camp.

“I talk to every single veteran,” she said. “You get to learn and put your head down and just work hard.”
