Diana Taurasi (+1800)
What a difference a year makes. Entering last season, Taurasi’s odds of winning MVP were +550. The odds made sense after a year off from the league and would likely produce a refreshed player. Her performance on the court, however, didn’t meet expectations. While scoring an impressive 17.8 PPG, Taurasi shot a career-low .396% from the field. Not only that, but her win shares per 48 minutes (an estimated number of wins a player contributes per 48 minutes) was a career-low at just .134. If anyone gets the benefit of the doubt, however, its Taurasi. An improved shooting season, plus more wins for the Mercury, could mean one more run at MVP for the 34-year-old superstar.
