The Dark Horses
Breanna Stewart (+700)
Was there ever any doubt that Stewart would be able to make the transition to the league without much trouble? 18.3 points, 9.3 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game was the stat line put together by the player affectionately known as “Stewie” in her rookie year. Couple those offensive stats with the fact that she also recorded 1.9 blocks and 1.2 steals per game, the Seattle Storm find themselves with their next franchise cornerstone.
The 2016 Rookie of the Year will look to try to convert those gaudy stats into more wins, as the Storm finished 16-18 last year and were bounced in the first round of the playoffs by the Atlanta Dream. With all-timer Sue Bird still getting it done, plus Jewell Loyd and a bunch of other young talent, Stewart has a good enough supporting cast to improve on her first year. If the Storm can find a way to get in the upper half of the league standing, expect Stewart to get some serious MVP consideration.
