Connecticut Sun

PICKS

Round 1, Pick 8 Brionna Jones, C, Maryland

Round 2, Pick 1 Shayla Cooper, F, Ohio State

Round 2, Pick 4 Leticia Romero, PG, Florida State

Round 3, Pick 4 Jessica January, PG, DePaul

A simply masterful job here by Curt Miller and the Sun. Jones is, in my opinion, the best big in this draft, second in the country in true shooting percentage and an elite rebounder. Cooper is a rugged 3/4 hybrid who can shoot the three, rebound well and fits well into Miller’s style of play. Romero led the country in three-point percentage (50.9%) and could play a big part with the Sun once she begins her WNBA career, though she will be with the Spanish national team this summer. In the meantime, there’s January, a dynamic scorer and playmaker not usually found that late in the draft. Miller’s building something really interesting in Connecticut.
