Washington Mystics

PICKS

Round 1 Pick 6 Shatori Walker-Kimbrough, G/F, Maryland

Round 2 Pick 6 Jennie Simms, G/F, Old Dominion

Round 3 Pick 3 Mehryn Kraker, G/F, Wisconsin-Green Bay

Mike Thibault certainly has a type. Emma Meesseman led the WNBA in field goal percentage last year. Also in the top four? Elena Delle Donne and Kristi Toliver, two of the newest Mystics. And his top overall pick? Walker-Kimbrough finished her college career having shot 46 percent from three. Simms and Kraker both checked in above 38 percent from three in their senior seasons. Tayler Hill can shoot the three. Ivory Latta’s made a career of it. Ally Malott got drafted because of it. The record for a WNBA team since the three-point line moved back to the current 22 feet, 1.75 inches came last season, when the Sparks shot 37.5 percent from deep. This trio of picks could help Washington shatter that mark. And Walker-Kimbrough figures to play quite a bit for Thibault’s stacked team.
