PICKS

Round 2 Pick 3 Alexis Peterson, PG, Syracuse

Round 3 Pick 6 Lanay Montgomery, C, West Virginia

Awfully good showing here with limited leverage here from the team that’s been used to drafting first overall. Peterson, from Syracuse, finished sixth in the country in assist percentage, while limiting turnovers in a fast-paced Syracuse attack. She can spell Sue Bird some, shoot the three, and force turnovers herself, a very useful collection of skills. Montgomery is simply so long, a monster on the defensive boards with a block percentage near 12, good for 12th-best in the country. Don’t be surprised if she sneaks onto the Seattle roster as well.
