America’s newest hero is Mississippi State point guard Morgan William, who followed her 41-point performance against Baylor in the Elite Eight with the shot that brought down mighty Connecticut, 66-64 in overtime Friday night in the Final Four.

William’s story is rightly receiving the national spotlight. The 25th-ranked point guard in her class coming out of high school is now just one win from a national title for a Mississippi State team without a single McDonald’s All-American.

William lost her father three years ago last Saturday, and dedicated this NCAA Tournament to him. Watch as she talks about imagining a conversation with him in the moments just after she hit a shot we’ll all be watching on replay for as long as people follow basketball.
